Kennywood retiring Log Jammer after 42 seasons to make room for the future!

As Kennywood's 2017 Summer Season winds down and we look ahead to 2018, we've come to a very hard decision: the Log Jammer will retire at the end of this season.

To celebrate 42 years of our favorite logs, Kennywood invites friends, families and Pittsburgh visitors to enjoy one last ride down the 53-foot drop chute before the summer season comes to an end on September 17.

While we know that the Log Jammer is a beloved ride for many of our guests and has been for us as well, we're looking forward to exploring exciting new developments in that corner of the park in future seasons.

"It is a bittersweet decision, but one that in time will create some exciting opportunities for our guests," says Kennywood General Manager Jerome Gibas. "While no final decisions have been made regarding what will replace the Log Jammer, Kennywood is committed to enhancing our guests' experiences while preserving our signature balance of modern thrills and traditional family favorites."

The Log Jammer debuted at Kennywood in 1975 as the park's first million-dollar attraction. The site of the Jammer was previously home to attractions including the Kangaroo, Loop-O-Plane, Bayern Kurve, a Ferris Wheel, and, from 1930 until 1974, a pony track.

Remembering Vic Kleman - August 28, 1932 - July 1, 2016

We are saddened to report that longtime ACE member Vic Kleman passed away this morning, (July 1, 2016) at the age of 83.

Vic was an enthusiastic ACE member and fan of Kennywood who seemed to be loved by all and he considered many in ACE to be his family. He drew worldwide media attention for his marathons on Kennywood's Jack Rabbit, the last of which occurred just 13 months ago when he took 95 consecutive rides to celebrate the ride's 95th birthday. In total, Vic tallied more than 5,000 rides on the ACE Roller Coaster Landmark. Many may also remember Vic when he worked part-time for Kennywood during the park's Phantom Fright Nights as the greeter at the Kennyville Cemetery. The park honored him less than a year ago during KennyKon XXVI.

We welcome you to revisit Vic's last Jack Rabbit marathon by visiting our Facebook album dedicated to it. You can also use the search box near the top left of ACE Western Pennsylvania's Facebook home page to search for "Kleman" to see several posts that featured him, including links to news articles.
